Suppose you had a date. It was with that special someone. The one you had been looking for all your life. You put on your best, calm your beating heart, and then ring the bell.
No one answers. You check you watch. Right Day. Right time. You ring again. No answer. How do you feel? What questions do you want answered?
So how do you think Jesus feels when He comes each week to our worship service and your pew is empty? He looked for you every week and gave His life so you could be there. You are the one He looks for, can’t wait to see. He longs to hear your voice in prayer, in hymns, in love. He comes with forgiveness and hope in His body and blood. But you are not there?
What do you think He would ask about your absence? What reason would you give for not being there? Too busy. Too tired. Too pretty a day to waste. What reason would help Him understand why you didn’t come?
In love, He will be there again next week. Waiting for you.
