Our church will again be participating in the Hunger Walk/Run to be held on Sunday, March 14th at 2:00pm near Turner Field in downtown Atlanta. The Hunger Walk/Run is a project of the Atlanta Community Food Bank (ACFB). Founded in 1979, the ACFB is an amazing organization that currently distributes nearly two million pounds of food and other donated grocery items each month to more than 800 nonprofit partner agencies in 38 counties in Metro Atlanta and North Georgia. Our benefiting partner will be Lutheran Services of Georgia.
In previous years, Pastor Dale and Pastor Jill have participated in a friendly competition to see who could raise the most money for the Hunger Walk/Run. This year, however, Pastor Dale and Pastor Jill are joining forces on a team they call the Angels and are challenging the other teams within the congregation to see which team can raise the most money for Hunger Walk/Run 2010. The other teams in the church will be divided as follows: young people in the church under 21 will be Lions; women in the church 21 and over will be Tigers; and men in the church 21 and over will be Bears.
Will the Angels raise the most money for the Hunger Walk/Run or will one of the other teams claw their way to the top? Mark your calendar and plan to join the fun as we raise money and walk or run about 3 miles to benefit those people who do not have enough food.
