Music Ministry

Music is an essential part of worship at Trinity Lutheran Church. It is a way to offer our thanks and praise and share our time, talent, and energy in service to our Creator and Lord. Music lifts the soul, opens our hearts, unites our spirits, and enriches our lives.
Many opportunities to serve through music can be found at Trinity. Children, beginning at age three, can participate in a graded choir program. Ensembles for youth and adults study and practice to provide great music for the worship services.
Instrumental music, from handbells to orchestra, is part of the greater musical experience
You can serve through one of the ensembles; help with leading a choir, or by playing the piano or other instrument. And everyone can add their own "joyful noise" in the songs and hymns sung during worship!
From Rick Kilgore, Director of Music, and all those who participate in an ensemble, you will find a warm welcome in the music ministry at Trinity Lutheran Church!

Children’s Choir & Bell Ensemble

Children's Choir - Grades Kindergarten thru 5th  (Wednesdays, 6:30 - 7:00 pm in B103)

Our Children's Choir learns to sing priase to God using our hymnals as well as beginning to learn the songs from our liturgy. Rhythm instruments and bells are used to help the children see the interrelationship of music and movement. They sing monthly in worship alternating between the 8:30 and 11:00 services.

Jubilee Ringers - Grades 3rd thru 5th  (Wednesdays, 6:00 - 6:30 pm in B103)
This choir uses handchimes as the first step to Trinity's bell choirs. The chimes are not quite as delicate as the handbells and provide a joyful introduction to ringing praises. The choir is open to all youth in grades 3 through 5. Ringing in worship is coordinated with Children's Choir

Youth Choirs & Ensembles

Celebration Ringers - Middle School Youth (Wednesdays, 6:00 - 6:45 pm in B105)
This choir is open to all youth in middle school. Whether you have previously rung handbells or not, you are invited to join the fun. We will explore many musical offerings in addition to hymn settings and enhancements to the liturgy. A commitment to the group is essential to its success. This is one choir where an absent person really does create a void. Come celebrate with us!

Celestial Praise - High School Youth (Sundays, 4:44 - 5:30 pm in B105)
This handbell choir rings music of a more advanced level. It is made up of high school students with more experience in advanced techniques and skills.

New Beginnings - Middle & High School Youth  (Sundays, 5:30 - 6:15 pm in the Sanctuary)
Middle School and High School youth participate in worship with their contemporary praise ensemble. Discusisions of music and its role in our faith and worship will be a part of this group. Both instruments and voices are needed. This ensemble leads worship each Wednesday evening at 7:00 pm just prior to Confirmation class.

Adult Choirs and Ensembles

Allegro Bells(Wednesdays, 6:45 - 7:45 pm in B105)

Ringing intermediate level music, Allegro ringers enjoy ringing and learning with an (almost) equal emphasis on fellowship and musicianship.

Dynamic Range - (Wednesdays, 6:15 - 7:00 pm and Sundays, 10:00 - 10:45 am in Prayer Chapel)
This ensemble plays and sings music in teh American folk, gospel and bluegrass traditions. This includes many 19th century revival hymns, camp-meeting songs, and shape-note hymns. Acoustic guitar, banjo, fiddle, and bass accompany teh unison and mixed voices.

Chancel Choir - (Thursdays, 7:00 - 8:30 pm in B105)
The Chancel Choir leads worship at both 8:30 and 9:45 services. The choir leads the liturgy, psalms, and hymns, as well as presenting special choral anthems during the offering. The choir sings a wide variety of musical styles and sources, from chant, baroque, classical, and contemporary. We rehearse together as a single choir, and then separate as two choirs – one each to lead the 8:30 and 9:45 services.

Messenger - (Mondays, 7:30 - 9:00 pm in the Sanctuary)
This group provides an opportunity for sings and musicians to lead worship using instruments other than organ and piano. The music is selected from many sources and usually uses guitars, saxophone, trumpet, and drums. Messengers leads worship every week at the 11:00 service.

Resounding Joy - (Wednesdays, 7:45 - 8:45 pm in B105)
This handbell choir provides a unique opportunity for adult fellowship in a musical setting. Members of this ensemble understand the level of commitment required to learn the music and techniques. Anthems, preludes, hymns, and liturgy round out the repertoire. Music of intermdediate levels are regularly rung. Resounding Joy rings once a month at worship as well as at special festivals - even weddings!
