What is Stephen Ministry?
 
Stephen Ministry is grounded in Jesus' command to love one another. Through one-to-one caring and confidential relationships, those who are hurting receive the love and care they need to support them.
 
Who might be helped by having a Stephen Minister?

  • Lonely
  • Experiencing separation or divorce
  • Coping with loss of a spouse
  • Navigating retirement
  • Unemployed
  • Feeling despair
  • New mothers
  • Hospitalized
  • Experiencing health changes
  • Terminally ill
  • Grieving
  • Facing an empty nest
  • Experiencing disability
  • Caregivers for family members
  • Shut-in
  • Dealing with most of life's struggles
  • Who can benefit? Anyone going through difficult times who needs someone to care, listen, and share God's love with them on a one-to-one confidential basis. Stephen Ministers are not, however, trained to provide care for people with mental illness.

Stephen Ministry
 
One-to-one ministry offered by trained, caring aly people who have responded to Christ's call to "carry each other's burdens." (Galatians 6:2)
 
What is a Stephen Minister?
  • A child of God who walks beside a hurting person
  • A caring Christian friend who really listens
  • A lay person who has received 50 hours of training in how to provide distinctivly Christian care
A Stephen Minister is not:
  • A counselor or therapist
  • A problem solver
  • A casual visitor
