God's Work, Our Hands Sunday 2021

God's Work, Our Hands Sunday will be held August 29, on Rally Day. This day is an opportunity to celebrate who we are as the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America—one church, freed in Christ to serve and love our neighbor.

Below are some of the possible projects you can participate in this year.

Lutheran World Relief Ingathering

It's time for our annual Lutheran World Relief Ingathering! We missed last year due to COVID-19, but everyone has still been working on Quilts & Kits, so we are expecting to have more donations than in previous years. On August 27 and 28, the tractor trailer will be in the back parking lot, and all the metro Atlanta churches will be bringing us their donations to load. If you like climbing into a big rig and using a pallet jack this is your opportunity! Please use the link below for further information and to sign up. If you have any questions, please contact Janice Hawkins.

Volunteer Opportunities

Military & Missionary Letter Writing Campaigns If you know someone who is currently serving in the military or as a missionary, please send their name and address to a member of our office staff. We will compile a list and ask for volunteers to write letters to these specific recipients.

Cookies for Firehouses

We will be collecting store-bought or homemade cookies on God's Work, Our Hands Sunday for delivery to local firehouses. You can drop off donations outside the church office as well. Sign up to donate and deliver cookies by emailing Pastor Katie.

Children's Sunday School Cookie Jar Project From the recipe below, you can contribute any of the dry ingredients and drop them off at Rally Day or take ingredients from the table that day and put together cookie jars at home. You're also welcome to make a jar or two yourself and return them by September 30th.

Cookies in a Jar Recipe

Canned Food Drive for Lilburn Co-op The co-op's particular needs include canned vegetables, canned chicken, tuna, stew, cans of gravy or broth, shampoo, canned pork and beans, toilet paper, cereal, and Hamburger Helper. You can drop off your donations on God's Work, Our Hands Sunday, at the co-op, or in the designated bin outside the church office.

Community Schools PB&J TLC Community Schools will be collecting jars of peanut butter and jelly to donate to the Lilburn Co-op. You can drop off your donations on God's Work, Our Hands Sunday, at the co-op, or in the designated bin outside the church office.

Prayer Square Assembly

Our Knit and a Prayer group have been working diligently on prayer squares to offer comfort to those in need. The prayer squares need to be tied to a blessing card before they are ready to distribute. You are welcome to pick up a bag with prayer squares, blessing cards and ribbons at the God's Work, Our Hands Sunday service. You'll then take them home, assemble them and drop them off in the bin outside of the church office any time during the week or at worship the following Sunday. If you would like to knit or crochet these prayer squares, please contact Jodi Lemcke.
