Start Walking, Stop Hunger: Join Us for the 2021 Hunger Walk Run

Trinity will again be participating in the Atlanta Hunger Walk, which was scheduled for Sunday, March 7th, but has now been changed to a virtual event. The Hunger Walk began in 1984 and is a project of the Atlanta Community Food Bank (ACFB), which serves 29 counties in North Georgia, including the metro Atlanta area. The ACFB is an amazing organization that in a normal year distributes over six million pounds of food each month to over 600 partner agencies that get it to people in need. Of course, these are not normal times, and since the pandemic began, the ACFB has seen a 300% increase in inquiries from people seeking food assistance and is distributing 30–40% more food each week than in the same period one year ago. The ACFB desperately needs the proceeds from the Hunger Walk to continue to provide these services.

Since 2010, Trinity has finished in 1st place among all the Lutheran churches in North Georgia raising money for the Hunger Walk, until last year, when we finished in 2nd place to Grace Lutheran Church in Carrollton. Because of our generous congregation, we proudly held the Hunger Walk trophy for a decade. But we need not be concerned about the trophy; we need to be concerned about the people, especially children, right here in Georgia who are not getting enough to eat on a regular basis. So I hope everyone will get on board and support this year's Hunger Walk campaign.

We hope you'll register to walk or run or donate as you are able at www.hungerwalkrun.org. When registering, select Inspiritus as the charity to support, click 'Join a Team,' then find Trinity Lutheran Church in the existing organizations drop-down menu. If you join our team, you will receive a t-shirt that the church will pick up and deliver to you. You can also write a check to the church and designate Hunger Walk on the memo line. The need for food during this pandemic has been overwhelming—please donate as you are able!
